The Eliason Family

August 30, 2012

Beau Mckay Eliason

The big news this past month is that we finally have a new addition to our family. Beau Mckay Eliason was born on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 9:42 a.m. He was 20.5 inches long and weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces. Delivery went great and recovery has been so much better than the first time around. Thursday afternoon I started having contractions but nothing painful. Mom and I even went shopping and Kenny and I even did a sealing session at the temple that night. I felt good enough but was pretty sure the baby was coming soon. That night I went to bed and woke up around 1:30 a.m. with painful contractions. They weren’t close enough together to go to the hospital until about 4:30 a.m. By time we got to the hospital I was in a lot of pain but at least the second time around you know you aren’t going to die from the pain and that eventually (as soon as that wonderful epidural comes) you’ll actually feel pretty good! I got an epidural at 6:30 a.m. and then we got some sleep! At 9:30 the nurse said we were ready to practice pushing and as soon as I was about to push she told me to wait, that the baby was too close to coming and we had to wait for the doctor. Dr. Paul walked in right then had me push and he pulled little Beau out. I was shocked-I didn’t even finish a full push! It was pretty easy and I felt great. Beau was healthy and has been a good little baby. We had lots of family there that day to meet Beau but I absolutely loved having Kayli there to meet him. She was in awe and wanted to hold him and kiss him. I was so glad that she liked him!

We are so lucky to have Kayli and now Beau. I’m excited to watch him grow up and have as much fun with him as we’ve had with Kayli. It’s been quite an adjustment getting used to having two kids around though and having a newborn again! For the most part, Kayli is a good little helper. I can ask her to bring me things and she loves to watch Beau and make sure he’s ok. She also tells me when she is sure he needs to eat! Every now and again she acts up a little probably to get my attention when it’s mostly on Beau-and I’ve caught her on camera…

The weekend before Beau was born, Mandy came to visit. We had fun shopping and she finally bought some baby girl clothes! We totally scored with super cheap (but cute) clothes at Children’s Place. She got all this for less than $30!
